Abstract
Background : Patient safety is a top priority that must be implemented in hospitals, because it is related to improving the issue of service quality and the image of a hospital. Incidents of patients falling during treatment still occur. Data obtained from one hospital found 4 patient falls in one year in 2021, and 5 patient falls in 2022. This shows that the target of 0% of patient falls has not been achieved. Objective : Knowing the relationship between knowledge and nurse compliance in preventing fall risk. Methods : The research method uses quantitative with an analytical survey approach, cross-sectional research design. The sample consisted of 37 respondents, the sampling technique used total sampling. The data collection tool uses a valid and reliable knowledge and compliance questionnaire. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate with the Kendall Tau test. Result : Nurses' knowledge in preventing the risk of falls was in the good category 23 (62.2%), sufficient 13 (37.8%), poor 1 (2.7%). The level of compliance was high 35 (62.2%), moderate 2 (5.4%). Sufficient knowledge with moderate level of compliance 3 (8.1%), sufficient level of knowledge with high compliance 9 (24.32%). Respondents with good knowledge had a moderate level of compliance 1 (2.70%), respondents with good knowledge and a high level of compliance were 24 (64.86%). The results of the Kendall Tau test analysis showed a p-value of 0.057 > 0.05 (there was no relationship between knowledge and nurse compliance in preventing fall risk). Suggestion: For the patient safety quality team to carry out routine evaluations as well as regular outreach and training in order to increase knowledge and compliance in preventing the risk of falls to achieve the target of 0% patient falls.
