Abstract
The gay and bisexual groups have many psychological problems, including anxiety disorders, depression, and even suicidal tendencies. It is important to actively seek help as it can help reduce psychological disturbances. This study aims to investigate the relationship between perceived discrimination based on sexual orientation and help seeking behavior among the gay and bisexual groups. The research method used was quantitative. The respondents totaled 36 and were obtained through questionnaire completion. Data analysis was performed using the non-parametric Spearman Brownman test. The results of the analysis and discussion revealed a significance value of 0.856 (p>0.05). This means that there is no relationship between the perception of discrimination and help-seeking behavior in the gay and bisexual groups. The higher the help-seeking ability, the lower the perceived discrimination experienced by the gay and bisexual groups, and vice versa. Recommendations for the gay and bisexual groups are to reduce concerns regarding discrimination from formal institutions by obtaining relevant and effective intervention assistance. A suggested future research direction is to examine the psychological impact and well-being of the gay and bisexual groups experiencing discrimination based on sexual orientation.
