Abstract
Background :Academic stress is a feeling of pressure experienced by students due to academic burdens in tertiary institutions. Stress has many positive and negative impacts that are influenced by personality type and academic stress can be controlled by resilience. Objective:This study aims to determine the relationship between resilience and personality type with academic stress level 1 students at the Faculty of Health Sciences UKMC Palembang Methods:Used an analytic survey design with a cross sectional approach to 94 respondents with a total population sampling technique. Measuring tool used is a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Kendal tau – b test, Cramer's v test and the Fisher's exact probability test. Result: Most of the research respondents were 19 years old, female (88.3%), nursing study program (56.4%), moderate level of academic stress (58,5%), extroverted personality type (63.8%), moderate resilience (56,4%). Data analysis showed that there was no relationship between resilience and academic stress (p=0,273) and there was a relationship between personality type and academic stress (p<0.001). Conclusion: Based on the results in this study there is no significant relationship between resilience and academic stress in grade 1 students while there is a significant relationship between personality types and academic stress in grade 1 students Suggestion: Students are expected to increase self-resilience and understand each other's personalities in order to be able to deal with the academic stress experienced during lectures.
