Abstract

This study aims to describe the Reading Ability of Class 1C Students of Xaverius 9 Elementary School Palembang. This type of descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects were class 1C students as the main data and the homeroom teacher as information on reading ability for class 1C. Data was collected based on the process of direct tests, interviews, and observations. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of this study are as follows: the reading ability of class 1C students has shown good results, although there are still students who spell in reading given by the researcher. From the indicators given to students, there were some students who had not yet read letters, read syllables, read words, and read sentences. The impact of research on the world of education.
