Abstract
Background: Adolescence is a transition from childhood to adulthood with an age range of 10-19 years. At the age of adolescents, especially those who carry out the role as students in the health sector who do not understand the knowledge of HIV will lead to negative perceptions of HIV sufferers. In addition to the knowledge that must be possessed, of course, it must also be supported by an attitude towards prevention to avoid transmission of HIV/AIDS. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitude to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS in adolescents. Method: This research method uses a quantitative correlation design with a cross sectional approach, the sample size is 67 respondents and the data collection tool uses a knowledge and attitude questionnaire to prevent HIV/AIDS transmission. Data analysis used the Kendall`tau-b test. Results: The results of this study found that most of the respondents had good knowledge of preventing the transmission of HIV/AIDS, as many as 65 (97%), while the attitude towards preventing the transmission of HIV/AIDS, the majority of respondents had a positive attitude, as many as 44 (67%). In this study, it was also found that there was no relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards preventing the transmission of HIV/AIDS in adolescents (p=0.602). Suggestion: Researchers suggest educational institutions to improve the quality of education in order to increase the knowledge of health students and increase a positive attitude towards the prevention of HIV/AIDS transmission.
