Abstract

Background: Chronic Kidney Disease is a disorder of kidney function caused by nephron damage. Damage occurs due to unhealthy lifestyles such as consuming soft drinks, smoking, not exercising, and consuming less white air. There are 159,015 people with CKD in the age range of 15-24 years. Providing education using video can be done as an effort to prevent CKD, namely providing education using video in order to increase students' knowledge about preventing chronic kidney failure. Objective: To analyze the difference in knowledge before and after being given education about the prevention of chronic kidney disease in Musi Charitas Catholic University students. Method: Using the pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test with a sample of 84 respondents taken by accidental sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire and providing health education. The bivariate analysis technique used was the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: the majority of respondents were 19 years old and the average age was 19 years, with the majority being female, 49 (58.3%), pre-test obtained 10 (12%) respondents with good knowledge and post-test, there were 82 (97.6%) ) respondents with good knowledge. There is a difference in knowledge between prevention of chronic kidney failure before and after being given education (p=0.000 <0.05). Suggestion: This research can be a source of information for students to prevent chronic kidney failure by adopting a healthy lifestyle such as reducing consumption of soft drinks, doing regular exercise and increasing water consumption.
