Abstract

Background: Hemoglobin test is a test to determine the level of hemoglobin contained in the blood which is determined by units of g/dL. In health services at puskesmas, small clinical laboratories, polindes or posyandu for hemoglobin level examination, more use a portable hemoglobinometer device with the point of care (POCT) method. While in the hospital laboratory for routine blood tests have more complete equipment and examination facilities, one of which is hemoglobin examination. Most hospital clinical laboratories have used automatic tools, namely hematology analyzers for hematological examinations. This study aims to determine whether there are differences in Hemoglobin Levels Using Hb Meter and Hematology Analyzer. Objective: Knowing the Difference in Hemoglobin Levels Using Hb Meter and Hematology Analyzer. Method: This study used analytical observational method with cross sectional approach and used total sampling technique. The subjects in this study amounted to 30 female students who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Venous blood is collected using an EDTA anticoagulant tube and then examined using the Sysmex XN-1000 Hematology Analyzer and Hb Meter. The sample measurement data is then tested using the Paired Sample t-test. Results: The average results of hemoglobin level examination using Hb Meter and Hematology Analyzer were 13.75 gr/dL and 13.01 gr/dL respectively. The results of the paired sample T test statistical test showed that the p-value was 0.001. Conclusion: There is a significant difference in the results of hemoglobin level examination using Hb Meter and Hematology Analyzer. Suggestion: Hemoglobin levels used to establish the diagnosis of a disease using a Hematology Analyzer, hemoglobin examination using POCT can only be used as screening.
