Abstract

The aim of the research was to find out the speech skills of the sixth graders of SD Negeri Lebung. This research is a type of descriptive quantitative research. The population and sample in this study were 19 people. Data collection techniques in this study used questionnaires, interviews and practice. In this study the aspects that were assessed were the suitability of the content of the speech with the material presented and the suitability of the theme with the content of the speech delivered and the order in which the speech was delivered. The results showed that 10 children with major qualifications and 9 students who entered minor qualifications. Students in delivering speeches according to the theme and content of the speech are still not quite right. Students also have not fulfilled the order of delivery in speeches such as saying greetings at the opening which are still often left behind, respectful greetings are also missing and thanksgiving is still not used. Meanwhile, in giving a speech, you have to fulfill the main sequences in your speech, namely, first, the text of the speech has an opening part, such as greetings, greetings of respect and thanksgiving. Second, the speech text has core parts such as an explanation of the themes of the speech and explanation of examples that support the theme. Third, the speech text has a concluding part such as a conclusion, apologies, thanks and closing greetings. Keywords: speaking skill, descriptive quantitative, aspect, analysis
