Abstract
Background: Examination delays often occur due to several factors that result in samples not being examined immediately. This can affect a variety of examinations performed in a laboratory, one of which is hematology examination. Hematology examination is widely requested to assess the state of blood, both blood cells and other blood components contained in plasma which is useful for diagnosing, monitoring a health condition and detecting abnormalities in the body. One of the parameters in heamtology examination is hematocrit. This hematocrit examination is done to help in diagnosing one of the conditions, namely anemia. This hematocrit examination is done by collecting blood in a tube with K2EDTA anticoagulant. The delay in sample examination will cause the blood that has been mixed with anticoagulant to precipitate so that secondary homogenization must be carried out before the sample is examined. This study aims to determine the difference in hematocrit results with the inversion secondary homogenization technique (back and forth) 2 times and 8 times after standing for 30 minutes. Results:The average result of secondary homogenized hematocrit examination 2 times was 38.6% and the average result of secondary homogenized hematocrit examination 8 times was 38.7%. Conclusion: There is no difference in the results of secondary homogenized hematocrit examination by inversion back and forth 2 times and 8 times with a value (sig 2 tailed) 0.207>0.05.
