Abstract

Background: Patients carrying out examinations are determined by examination rates. In leukocyte examination, one of the components that can reduce rates is the EDTA tube. The EDTA tube that is often used in laboratories is the tube BD Vacutainer which is relatively expensive. To reduce inspection rates, efforts that can be made include using a tube with a relatively low price, namely the Vacusaka tube. Vacusaka tubes before use must be carried out a comparative test using tubes that are normally used in the laboratory Objective: Knowing the number of leukocytes in K3EDTA BD Vacutainer and K3EDTA Vacusaka tubes using a Hematology Analyzer Methods: This type of research is analytic observational with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects of this study were 37 students who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria using the total sampling technique. Venous blood was collected in K3EDTA BD Vacutainer and K3EDTA Vacusaka tubes, then examined using a sysmex XP-100 hematology analyzer. The results of the examination of the number of leukocytes were analyzed using the Paired T-test with a 95% confidence level. Results: The average leukocyte count using the K3EDTA BD Vacutainer tube was 7.2× 103/µL. The average leukocyte count using a Vacusaka K3EDTA tube was 7.1 × 103/µL Conclusion: There are differences in the results of examining the number of leukocytes in the K3EDTA BD Vacutainer and K3EDTA Vacusaka tubes using a Hematology Analyzer with a p value (sig 2 tailed) 0.001 <0.05. Suggestion: Subsequent studies on the number of leukocytes in K3EDTA blood used a larger number of subjects
