Abstract

Background: Patients carrying out examinations can be determined by rates. In examining the number of erythrocytes, one of the components that can reduce inspection rates is the EDTA tube. In general, the EDTA tube that is often used in laboratories is the BD Vacutainer tube, which is relatifly expensive. In the market today there are EDTA tubes that are relatifly cheap, namely Vacusaka tubes. To be able to lower the inspection fee, choose a tube that is relatifly cheap, but before using the tube, a comparative test must be carried out with a tube that is often used in the laboratory. Objective: Knowing the difference in the results of the number of erythrocytes in the K3EDTA BD Vacutainer and K3EDTA Vacusaka tubes using a hematology analyzer. Methods: This research is analytic observational with a cross-sectional approach using total sampling technique. The subjects of this study were 34 female students who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Venous blood was collected in the K3EDTA BD Vacutainer tube and K3EDTA Vacusaka tube, then the number of erythrocytes was examined using the Sysmex XP-100 Hematology Analyzer. Data from sample measurements were then tested using the Paired Sample t-test with a 95% confidence level. Results: The average number of erythrocytes using the K3EDTA BD Vacutainer analyzer tube was 4.48 x 106/µL. The average number of erythrocytes using the K3EDTA Vacusaka tube was 4.47 x 106/µL. Conclusion: There is no significant difference in the results of examining the number of erythrocytes in the K3EDTA BD Vacutainer tube and the K3EDTA Vacusaka tube using a hematology analyzer with a value (sig 2 tailed) 0.241 > 0.05. Suggestion: Using a larger population with a variety of research subjects that can affect results, delaying samples, research tools and methods with different principles.
