Abstract

Background : Glucose test in the laboratory use serum sample, but plasma sample can be used as an alternative for immediate glucose demand (cito) without other routine hematology laboratory tests. Glucose test in a health laboratory use a chemistry analyzer with the photometer method. Along with times, especially in the fields of technology and knowledge, other tools as point of care testing (POCT) method can be used to simple glucose test because the least sample, results known quickly and test don’t should in the laboratory. Objective : Find out determine differences of fasting glucose levels in EDTA plasma and serum using the GOD-PAP and POCT methods. Methods: Type of research is pre-experiment with static group comparison. Subjects of the research is students of DIV Medical Laboratory Technology class III and class IV amount 31 students by total sampling . Research subjects accordance with inclusion and exclusion criteri and then subject was take a blood sample. Subjects was taken as much as two tubes of blood. 1 tube to serum sample and 1 tube to plasma sample then measured glucose level in serum and plasma with the GOD-PAP and POCT methods .Data will be analyzed using Kruskal Wallis test with 95% confidence level . Result: Median value for serum GOD-PAP as much 79.20 mg/dL and median value for serum POCT as much 154 md/dL.Plasma GOD-PAP median value as much 81.50 mg/dL and median value for plasma POCT as much 161 mg/dL.Results of statistically tested and value of significant difference (p= 0 ,000 ) between fasting glucose level in EDTA plasma and serum using the GOD-PAP and POCT methods . Conclusion: Result to this research is have significant difference of fasting glucose levels in EDTA plasma and serum using the GOD-PAP and POCT methods with a value of ( sig 2 tailed ) 0, 000<0.05. Suggestion: Sample for diagnosis to glucose test is serum using GOD-PAP method. For the next research, similar research can be using methods other analyte with the POCT method such as hemoglobin, cholesterol and uric acid.
