Abstract

Background: In the management of schizophrenia, treatment continuity is one of the main factors for success of therapy. Schizophrenia disorder treatment do not only in pharmacological drug therapy and other therapies but also helped determine the role of the family. With family involvement in both the support by providing information and provide finance for control treatment. With family involvement, expected to family will understand the disorder and schizophrenia can help accelerate the healing process of patients with one of them continously treatment. Purpose: This research aimed to determine the relationship of income and information provided by the families with treatment compliance in schizophrenic patients at Polyclinic Hospital Ernaldi Bahar Palembang. Methods: This research used survey research methods analytical with cross sectional design. The population of this research families that bring patients to outpatient schizophrenia and the sample consisted of 98 respondents using purposive sampling technique. Results: Results of univariate statistical test variable low income 51 respondents (52%), family information support both 55 respondents (56.1%), treatment compliance obedient 54 respondents (55.1%). The results of the bivariate analysis with chi square statistical test (α≤0,05) in the can there is a significant relationship between family income with treatment compliance with p value = 0.023 and there was a significant correlation between the information given support families with treatment compliance with p value = 0,034. Based on these results, the expected role of the family in caring for patients with schizophrenia can be increased so that schizophrenic patients can return to interact and socialize within the family and society.
