Abstract
Background: injectable contraceptive is contraception used by many women because effective and more attractive. Election of injectable contraceptive is influenced by several factors including age, education, occupation, number of children, and culture. Aim: The aim of this study was to analyze factors that affect mother choosing of injectable contraceptive in Community Health Services Talang Betutu Palembang. Method: This study was analytic survey with a cross sectional design and samples in research were 50 respondents. Results: The results of this study found as many as 36 (72%) had 20-35 years of age, as many as 47 (94%) has a medium level of education, as many as 31 (62%) did not work, as many as 40 (80%) who had a number of children 1-2, as many as 27 (54%) has a culture of support and as many as 42 (84%) chose injectable contraceptive. The chi square test results found no significant relationship between age with the election injectable contraceptive (p value=0.670), no significant relationship between education with the election injectable contraceptive (p value=0.414), no significant relationship between job with the election of injectable contraceptive (p value=0.459), no significant relationship between the number of children with the election of injectable contraceptive (p value=0.331), no significant relationship between culture with the election injectable contraceptive (p value=0.444). Necessary efforts of health workers, to increase and improve education or counseling so that people can choose a contraceptive according to comfort and suitable.
