Abstract
Background: Prepared patient preoperative preparation is needed to help patients both physically, and psychologically and emotionally. Patients who experience anxiety before surgery will have adverse consequences for the patient so that nursing assistance, attention forms, and knowing what the patient needs as a form of caring behavior is necessary to prepare preoperative patients. Objective: To know the relationship of caring behavior of nurse with preoperative patient preoperative level at RS.RK Charitas Palembang. Method: This research is a kind of quantitative research using analytic survey method with cross sectional design on 49 respondents by using purposive sampling and Spearman's rho test. Results: The majority of patients received high caring behavior as many as 25 respondents (51%) and experienced moderate anxiety level as much as 37 respondents (75.5%). Spearman's rho test results showed that there is a weak negative relationship between caring behavior of nurses with preoperative patient's anxiety level at RS.RK Charitas Palembang (r = -0.368; p = 0,009). Conclusion: It is advisable for nurses to approach Swanson's caring as phases in the administration and application of caring to decrease anxiety levels in preoperative patients.
