Abstract

Industry kemplang "001" is an industry to produce kemplang typical food of South Sumatra. Initial studies found some complaints from the packaging section of workers feel less comfortable when doing his job, such as pain in the waist, too bowed head, pain in the buttocks, and back pain caused by a work chair is not ergonomic.. To improve employee chair, then performed an anthropometric study of the fit between employees with work chair that focuses on designing an ergonomic work chair in order to reduce the perceived grievances of workers. Work chair created based on the desire of employees using the method of Value Engineering. Work chair made has a high 40 cm, width 42 cm pedestal, 33.33 cm depth, backrest height 51 cm, and 43.33 cm wide backrest. These dimensions are set based on anthropometric measures body weaving Natural Industry Kemplang “001”. From the analysis of the questionnaire Nordic Body Map, a reduction in the level of complaints of workers at work. By using the office chair after repairs are scaling back complaints on the conditions of workers at work. Complaints on the head decreased by 75%, on the buttocks decreased by 50%, at the waist by 75%. From the office chair repair worker productivity has increased from 7.81 into 8.93.
