Abstract

Palembang city is one of the cities in Indonesia which is doing massive development both in the field of tourism and city facilities. Although the city of Palembang more advanced but crafts and culture typical of the city of Palembang increasingly left behind and forgotten. Therefore Palembang House of Handmade is appointed with the aim to create a container for Palembang handicraft that has been increasingly left behind and forgotten by the community. House of Handmade Palembang has the first two building periods as a gallery building of handicrafts and the second as the production of handicraft itself. With a fun education atmosphere that provides education for visitors and become one of the tours in the city of Palembang itself. The theme of silkworm with the assumption that the building is designed to be like silkworm, which has an important value in the development of Palembang itself, this theme is realized in the form of metaphor architecture.
