Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that poses a risk of cardiovascular complications. Non-pharmacological management through warm foot soak therapy and progressive muscle relaxation can help lower blood pressure through mechanisms of peripheral vasodilation, stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system, and reduction of sympathetic nervous system activity Objective : To analyze the application of nursing interventions consisting of warm foot soak therapy and progressive muscle relaxation to reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Methods: A case study using a pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design was conducted on three hypertensive patients. The intervention was administered once daily for three days. Results: The findings showed a decrease in blood pressure after the intervention. Patient I showed an average reduction of 5.3 mmHg in systolic and 1.6 mmHg in diastolic pressure. Patient II showed an average reduction of 12.3 mmHg in systolic and 2.6 mmHg in diastolic pressure. Patient III showed an average reduction of 5.6 mmHg in systolic and 4 mmHg in diastolic pressure. Additionally, all patients reported improvement in headache complaints and a decrease in pain levels. Conclusion: The application of foot soaking therapy with warm water and progressive muscle relaxation has been proven effective in lowering blood pressure and reducing symptoms experienced by hypertension patients. Suggestion: The results of this case study are expected to be applied as a complementary therapy to help reduce pain and lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients.
