Abstract

Background: Fractures can be caused by traumatic events (traumatic fractures), such as traffic or non-traffic accidents. This can cause pain. Pain is more disruptive and distressing for more people than any other disease. One nursing intervention that can be taken to reduce pain is the application of deep breathing relaxation techniques. Purpose: To conduct an analysis of nursing care for patients with closed fractures of the lower extremities with the intervention of providing deep breathing relaxation for changes in pain. Methods: A case study describing nursing care for a patient with a closed fracture of the lower extremity. The measuring tool used to evaluate pain was a numeric rating scale. Results: In all three patients with closed fractures, after receiving deep breathing relaxation intervention, there was a decrease in the pain scale from 4/NS to 2/NS. Conclusion: Deep breathing relaxation techniques can be used to reduce pain in patients with closed fractures. For the next researcher, they should use the mix method.
