Abstract
Background: Postoperative pain is the period from the time the patient is transferred to the recovery room until the next evaluation. Common complaints include pain due to incisions or tissue damage. Acute pain is a sensory or emotional experience associated with actual or functional tissue damage, with sudden or slow onset and mild to severe intensity lasting less than three months. As a non-pharmacological pain management method, the finger-hold relaxation technique can be used because it can reduce pain by making the individual perceive touch as a stimulus to relax, which then triggers a relaxation response. Objective: Implementing nursing care for post-operative patients with finger grip relaxation techniques with the main nursing problem of acute pain. Method: Case study, conducted once a day for 3 days on 3 pasients. Results: After being given nursing management by administering finger grip relaxation techniques, all pasients experienced a decrease in the pain scale, namely pasient 1 from a scale of 6 to 2, pasient 2 from a scale of 7 to 1 and pasient 3 from a scale of 7 to 3, which means that the results show a change in the pain scale in pasients after being given intervention for 3 days. Conclusion: There was a decrease in the pain scale after being given the finger grip relaxation technique after 3 days on all pasients. Suggestion: Nurses can provide finger grip relaxation techniques to post- operative patients as a non-pharmacological therapy for pain management and for further researchers, they can develop methods of pain management based on the duration of administration and the number of pasients
