Abstract

Background : When testing the level of albumin in the blood, one of the most commonly used test materials is serum. To obtain the blood serum can be done in two ways, it called centrifugated and uncentrifuged. A non-centrifugal serum maybe used as an alternative if a laboratory has problems with the facilities and infrastructure for the albumin examination to be carried out. Objective : To find out the differences between the levels of albumin centrifuged and uncentrifuged using a chemistry analyzer. Methods : The type of this research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional research design. The research was conducted at the Center for Public Health Laboratory (BBLKM). The research subjects used were 38 students. Sampling was carried out using total sampling technique. The data analysis used is Paired Sample T-Test with a confidence level of 95% Result : The average albumin level using centrifuged serum was 4.51 g/dL, Albumin levels using serum uncentrifuged were 4.63 g/dL. Conclusion : There was a significant difference in albumin levels using centrifuged and uncentrifuged serum, p = 0.010 (<0.05) for the subject population with an age range of 18-22 years. Suggestion : for the next research is recommended to use different examination methods and more largest population.
