Abstract

Background: One of the checks that is often carried out in the laboratory is the examination of feces. One of the most commonly used methods is the floating method (flotation). This method usually uses a small sample of stool which is considered representative of the stool, but sometimes the results are not positive. To get a high level of positivity, a larger number of stool samples were used. Methods: This type of research is a pre-experimental study conducted at the Parasitology Laboratory of Musi Charitas Catholic University, Palembang. The sample used in this study was the feces of children in TPA Sukawinatan Palembang City. Results: Of the 15 samples examined in part of the feces, 7 samples were positive (47%) and 8 samples were negative (53%). Stool examination which was more than 15 samples examined, there were 12 positive samples (80%) and negative samples (20%). Based on the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, the results showed a significant difference in the two treatments, namely p (0.032). Conclusion: Based on this research, it can be concluded that there are differences in the results of examining worm eggs in some feces and feces with the floating me
