Abstract

Lead is known as a neurotoxin (nerve poison attacker). Lead disrupt the synthesis of heme and has a toxic effect on red blood cells and cause a decrease in the amount of hemoglobin in the cells causing anemia. This research to determine the correlation between the lead level to hemoglobin level in blood’s of parking attendants in Palembang traditional market 2015. This research is quasi experimental. Samples taken at random as much as 11 parking attendants who work in Palembang traditional market. All samples were male with age between 25-57 years old with mean age 36,7 ± 9,6 years old. All samples were healthy and not in treatment. Data were collected by using a questionnaire survey. The blood lead level was analyzed by GF-AAS (Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer) with spectrofotometry methods and the hemoglobin level was analyzed by Sysmex KX-21 with B. Cell Counter methods. Hypothesis testing was conducted by Pearson Correlation Test. The results showed that 100 % subjects had blood lead level and hemoglobin level which is still within the normal criteria. The mean blood lead level of parking attendants was 0,91 ± 0,384 µg/dL. The mean hemoglobin level was 14,76 ± 1,15 g/dL. The results of Pearson Correlation Test showed there was no significant correlation between the two variables with p = 0,375 (p > 0,05). There was no correlation between the blood lead level with hemoglobin level in blood’s of parking attendants in Palembang traditional market 2015.. Kata Kunci : Kadar timbal (Pb) darah, Kadar Haemoglobin, juru parkir.
