Abstract

Population growth must occur in a city. Population growth is characterized by births and deaths. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the death rate of the population increased and this happened in the city of Palembang. With the design of the Funeral Home, Crematorium and Columbarium in Palembang, it is hoped that it can provide a solution to reduce the use of burial land due to the increasing death rate, so that the remaining land can be used for city development. The design of the Funeral Home, Crematorium and Columbarium in Palembang is located in the St. Asisi Gandus Palembang by considering the zoning of the existing crematorium in Palembang to facilitate access for users and visitors to the facility. The design of the Funeral Home, Crematorium and Columbarium in Palembang uses the theme of "Repetition" and the concept of "Triquetra Symbols" which are related to three important stages of human life, namely birth, death and rebirth. This design also applies a biophilic design as a reinforcement between the man-made environment and nature in reducing stress both psychologically and mentally. The design of the Funeral Home, Crematorium and Columbarium is expected to be a place that can accommodate the grief of death but is channeled into a memorable memory for the bereaved family and provides consolation that death is the beginning of a new life.
