Abstract

A nun candidate is a woman who lives in a convent who voluntarily leaves worldly life and is currently carrying out her education as a novice nun at the Noviciat. The meaning of life is something that is valuable and important, has a special value that is found within oneself which is determined from a quality of one's appreciation of what is done as an effort to actualize one's potential, realizing the values and goals of life. If this special value is found and fulfilled, life feels meaning and happiness. This study used a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach with source triangulation techniques. Data collection methods used interviews and observations of 3 subjects and 2 supporting informants who were mentors and also friends of the community at the monastery. The results of this study indicate that the 3 prospective nuns lived a difficult life but were able to change these conditions into a meaningful life experience.
