Abstract

This study is aimed to determine differences in the level of emotional intelligence based on gender and extracurricular participation in high school students. This research was conducted from September to October 2022, at Xaverius 3 High School Palembang. The hypothesis in this study is to see whether or not there are differences in the level of emotional intelligence of Xaverius 3 high school students based on gender and extracurricular participation. The subjects in this study were students of SMA Xaverius 3 with a total population of 444 students, a trial sample of 34 students and a research sample of 300 students. The sampling technique used purposive sampling by taking samples which were students of SMA Xaverius 3. The method of analysis to see the difference in the level of emotional intelligence using the Independent sample t-test. The results showed that there were differences in the level of intelligence of high school students based on extracurricular participation and there is no differences in the level of emotional intelligence of high school students based on gender.
