Abstract
This study aims to determine whether there are differences in abnormal returns before and abnormal returns after the announcement of the changes in company names. In general, companies can influence investors in investing. Therefore, the company's efforts in achieve a good perception for investors, one of which is to change the name of the company. It is suspected that the market will react if there is information contained in the announcement made by the company. Information that has an impact on stock prices causes abnormal returns. The population in this study were all companies that helped in 2012-2016 on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This study based on empirical studies (event study) using purposive sampling method which produces a sample of 36 companies from 56 companies. Hypothesis testing is carried out with two sample different tests. The results showed that there were no significant differences in abnormal returns in the period before and after the announcement of changes in company names.
