Abstract
Background: hemoglobin level examinations are carried out in three stages, namely pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical stages. The pre-analytical stage of specimen processing is one of the factors that can affect hemoglobin levels. Low hemoglobin levels can cause anemia. Examination of hemoglobin levels using an auto analyzer with venous and capillary blood samples Objective: To determine the difference between venous and capillary blood hemoglobin levels in TLM students using an auto analyzer Methods: This study used a pre-experimental design. The samples used were students and I level II and level IV, as many as 35 people who entered the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The independent sample T-test was used to analyze the data that had been obtained. Results: The results of the measurement of hemoglobin levels in venous blood obtained a median value of 13.2 g/dl, a maximum value of 16.4 g/dl and a minimum value of 9.1 g/dl, while a median value of 13.4 g/dl was obtained for capillary blood, a maximum value of 16.7 g/dl and a minimum value of 9.3 g/dl. The results of the independent sample test obtained a probability value of 0.696 > 0.05. It is stated that there is no difference in the examination of hemoglobin levels of venous blood and capillary blood samples. There was no difference in results, it could be caused by the same treatment using the Sysmex KX-21N tool at the time of hemoglobin examination. Conclusion: There is no difference in hemoglobin levels in venous blood and capillary blood with a probability value of 0.696.
