Abstract

The title of this research is "Effects of Online Short Stories on Students’ Reading Comprehension". The main objective of this research was to investigate whether short stories may improve the reading comprehension of 10th grade in a senior high school in Palembang. In addition, this study also aimed to investigate whether online short stories are effective to implement in this study. In this study, the sample was provided from one of the parallel classes in 10th grade. The researcher implemented quantitative methods. The type of quantitative method that implemented was pre-experimental research using one group pre-test post-test. The instrument that has been implemented in this research was a test that divided into two tests, there were pre-test and post-test. This study was analyzed by comparing the results of the pre-test post-test. Based on the students' test results, it is known that students' reading comprehension is gradually increasing. This means that there is a positive effect of using online short stories on the reading comprehension of high school students at level X. The results of the questionnaire show that there is a positive effect seen in the use of online short stories as a medium in senior high school.
