Abstract

This study aims to determine whether work shift variables and work stress variables can affect the performance of hospital nurses in the city of Palembang. The population of this study were hospital nurses in the city of Palembang. The sample used was 90 respondents using purposive sampling technique. The primary data in this research are respondents' answers from the questionnaire statements and secondary data obtained from books, journals and articles related to work shifts, work stress and performance. The data analysis technique used in this research is data quality test: validity and reliability test, classical assumption test in the form of data normality test, data multicollinearity test and heteroscedasticity test; multiple linear regression analysis test; coefficient of determination test and hypothesis testing (t test). The variables in this study were measured using a Likert scale and processed using SPSS 20. The results of this study prove that the work shift variable has a positive and significant effect on the performance of hospital nurses in the city of Palembang and work stress has a negative and significant effect on the performance of hospital nurses in the city.
