Abstract

Labeling a person can cause and trigger thoughts if he or she is rejected. The thought of being rejected and also accompanied by real rejection can destroy the ability to interact, reduce the sense of self-esteem, and tend to behave in a deviant manner. A person who is labeled usually follows the label given or set on the person and becomes the basis for doing something in his life. This study aims to find out the relationship between negative self-labelling and juvenile delinquency tendencies. The study used correlational quantitative research methods with a sample of 86 student respondents obtained from purposive sampling methods. These research variables were negative self-labelling and juvenile delinquency tendencies using google form questionnaires as data collection tools. Hypothesis testing was conducted using the Pearson Product Moment test. Research results show that there is a significant relationship between the negative self-labelling tendency of juvenile delinquency and the correlation coefficient value of 0.582 (medium) and the significance value of 0.000 prove a significant relationship
