Abstract

Background : Diabetes mellitus is a condition in which blood glucose levels increase >180 mg/dl. Diabetes mellitus requires treatment so that blood glucose levels remain stable. Blood glucose stability is influenced by diet, physical activity and medication adherence. So in the management of DM patients must apply a healthy and obedient lifestyle in the treatment program. Objective : This study aims to identify the relationship between diet, physical activity and medication adherence with blood glucose levels in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. Methods : This study used an analytical survey design with a cross sectional approach. There are 42 sample respondents using total sampling technique. Research analysis using the Kendall Tau test. Result : The results of this study are the age category of the elderly 29 people (69.0%), gender category of women 27 people (64.3%), long suffering from short duration DM 24 people (57.1%), diet category enough diet 26 people (61 ,9%), physical activity in moderate activity category 31 people (73.8%), medication adherence in low adherence category 21 people (50.0%), blood glucose levels during poor level category 22 people (52.4%), there is a relationship between diet and blood glucose levels when (τ = 0.509, p-value = 0.001), there is no relationship between physical activity and temporary blood glucose levels (τ = 0.036, p-value = 0.810) and there is a relationship between medication adherence with glucose levels when (τ = 0.438, p-value = 0.004). Suggestion : Patients can improve diet patterns, physical activity and adherence to taking medication which aims to keep blood glucose levels in the body stable.
