Abstract

Background: Examination delays often occur because there is a sample collection in advance for certain reasons such as so that the examination can be carried out at once, there is a referral from a place that requires travel time to the laboratory, damaged equipment, or a power outage which makes the examination have to be postponed. According to other studies, the decrease in glucose levels is caused by delays. Delays in checking blood glucose while also still often occur in hospital laboratory services Objective: To know the difference in blood glucose results when immediately checked, delayed 60 minutes and 120 minute Methods: This research method is descriptive analytic with an observational research design. Samples that are checked immediately are labeled “A”, Delayed 60 minutes are labeled “B”, Delayed 120 minutes are labeled “C”. The research subjects used in this study were all employees at the BUMN Hospital. Serum was checked immediately, delayed 60 minutes and 120 minutes from blood collection using BM Biomajestik 6010. Glucose test results were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test with 95% confidence level. Results: The average glucose yield that was checked immediately was 94 mg/dl. The glucose result delayed 60 minutes was 89 mg/dl. The glucose result delayed 120 minutes is 84 mg/dl Conclusion: There is a difference in the results of blood glucose examination when immediately checked, delayed 60 minutes and 120 minutes with a value (sig 2 tailed) 0.000 <0.05. Suggestion: Checking blood glucose levels when advised should be done immediately to avoid bias factors from delays
