Abstract

Background:Hypertension is a medical condition characterized by increased contraction of the arteries, resulting in resistance to blood flow which can increase blood pressure. Blood pressure or hypertension is 140/90 mmHg if not treated properly it will lead to rupture of blood vessels (stroke) to death so that special treatment is needed including using non-pharmacological therapy by utilizing celery leaves . Purpose: To describe the knowledge and attitudes regarding the use of celery leaves (Apium graveolens L) in hypertension in the working area of the Padang selasa publis Health Center. Methods: Descriptive quantitative research design with a descriptive survey approach, sampling technique using purposive sampling with inclusion and exclusion criteria to75 respondents, data collection tools using a questionnaire sheet. Results: The majority of respondents aged 55-64 years 43 respondets (57.3%), female as many as 43 respondents (57.3%), with a high school education level as many as 28 respondents (37.3%), having enterprenenrsip jobs as many as 27 respondents( 36%), have less knowledge as much as 33 respondents(44%), and moderate attitude as much as 60respondents (80%). Suggestion: further researchers could conduct continuous research in order to see and assess changes in respondents' knowledge and attitudes about the use of celery leaves for hypertension sufferers from time to time.
