Abstract

Background: Sodium is one of the electrolytes that is often checked in the laboratory. Factors that can affect sodium are light physical activity such as walking.Objective : To determine the difference in serum sodium levels without resting and resting 15 minutes before taking blood using the ISE easy lyte tool.Methods: This type of research is Analytical Observation with a Cross Sectional approach. The research subjects used were students of level II and IV DIV Medical Laboratory Technology totaling 30 people. Blood samples were collected or collected in 2 clott activator tubes for each subject, then the sample was centrifuged to obtain serum. Each serum was examined twice, namely not resting and resting for 15 minutes. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test.Results: Non-resting sodium levels had a mean of 141 mEq/L, a median value of141 mEq/L, a minimum value of 138 mEq/L and a maximum value of 143 mEq/L.Meanwhile, resting sodium levels for 15 minutes had a mean value of 140 mEq/L,a median value of 140 mEq/L, a minimum value of 138 mEq/L, and a maximum value of 142 mEq/L. The results of statistical tests showed a significant difference p = 0.000 (<0.05).Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that there was adifference in sodium levels without resting and resting 15 minutes.
