Abstract
This research is entitled Structure of Narrative Writing for Fifth Grade Students at SD Xaverius 7 Palembang, this research was conducted to determine the students' ability in making narrative essays in the structure and suitability of the predetermined theme regarding holidays. This study uses a qualitative research method by describing the results of the study using a direct written test for fifth grade students in writing narrative essays. The data analysis technique used is the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study students are able to write narrative essays with a good structure in each essay of each student there is a theme that is in accordance with the given theme, characters, setting of time, plot of place, and different plots such as forward flow as much as 60%, plot retreat 33.33% and flow back 6.66%. With the students' ability in writing the structure of students' essays, the researcher found other findings that students had spelling difficulties such as writing capital letters, punctuation marks and prepositions or spaces.
