Abstract
Exclusive breastfeeding is breast milk that is given to infants 0-6 months without additional food or other fluids. Babies who are not exclusively breastfed are prone to getting sick. The achievement target for exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia is 80%. Exclusive breastfeeding coverage in Palembang in 2019 of 78.3% has not reached the national target. The lowest achievement of exclusive breastfeeding in the city of Palembang was at the Tegal Binangun Health Center, namely 43.3%. Until now, the factors that influence the low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding at the Tegal Binangun Health Center are not known. Objective: To know the factors related to the low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in the Work Area of the Tegal Binangun Health Center Palembang. This type of quantitative research uses a cross sectional approach with a population of 70 respondents, the sample is taken with a total sampling technique of 43 respondents. The data collection tool used a questionnaire and the data was tested using Kendall Tau. Results: The age characteristics of most respondents were early adults 28 (65.1%); The highest secondary education level is 34 (79%). The highest level of knowledge is 35 (81.4%); Respondents do not work as many as 26 (60.5%) High family support as many as 35 (81.4%). Most exclusive breastfeeding did not give exclusive breastfeeding 23(53,3%). The results of the relationship analysis were obtained: (1) There was no relationship between knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding (p-value 0.233); (2) There is no employment relationship with exclusive breastfeeding (p-value 0.040); (3) There is no relationship between family support and exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Tegal Binangun Health Center Palembang (p-value 0.106). Suggestion: Working mothers do not need to give additional food to babies, mothers can still give exclusive breastfeeding by pumping before work so that their milk needs are still met
