Abstract

Looking at times that are constantly changing through times that are so sophisticated today where information can be obtained easily then show an idea to create Mobile Visual Dictionary which was developed in accordance with the attribute dictionary manually in general but with the advantage will be the availability of information anytime and practical with a quick search and automatic with the scope of simulation client-server (localhost). Mobile Visual Dictionary is developed with Java technology includes client, server and application.it’s development as involving the entire Java platform: J2SE, J2EE, and J2ME. In the storage level using MySQL 5.1 as the DBMS, Apache Tomcat Web Server 6.0.1 as a server that provides HTTP services of the Java Servlet for mobile users who utilize the facility transfer via packet data, or better known as the media GPRS data transmission from server to client or vice versa. Analysis and application requirements for users will be developed with the methodology RUP (Rational Unified Process) to the modeling language UML (Unified Modeling Language) so that the application can provide a search feature meaning, pronunciation, example sentences and so forth.
