Abstract

PT Bukit Asam is a state-owned company engaged in coal mining. The problems in this company are the environmental conditions of the preparation room that are not clean, the machines are not maintained, and the lack of material storage areas. so it is necessary to analyze the factors that cause these problems. The results of the influencing factors are humans, machines, the environment, and methods, with the formulation of the solution, namely the principle of the 5S method (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke) by sorting needed and unneeded items, providing a place to store materials in the production process and storage, keeping the environment clean on a regular basis, making 5S posters, and implementing a 5S discipline culture (Checkseet) as well as providing sanctions for employees who do not practice the 5S culture. This will certainly create a good work culture and create an ENASE environment (Enak, Nyaman, Aman, Sehat, and Efisien). Keywords: factors, 5S, work environment.
