Abstract

The growth of Islam in the city of Palembang was growing so rapidly. One of the silent witnesses to the development of Islam in the city of Palembang was the mosque building. One of the mosques in Palembang that witnessed the spread of Islam in Palembang was Al-Mahmudiyah Mosque. Al-Mahmudiyah Mosque had been standing for 132 years. That was made the mosque was becoming one of the Cultural Heritage Buildings in the City of Palembang. Al-Mahmudiyah Mosque had undergone several renovations and repaired due to the increasing demanded in the mosque and the damage of the materials. As a cultural heritage building, the authenticity of Al-Mahmudiyah Mosque had to be reviewed. One of the objects that was renovated in the Al-Mahmudiyah Mosque was the roof. In the mosque, the building’s shape that was still original was the middle building of the mosque with a size of 17x17 meters. So this study specifically will identify the authenticity of the roof of the old building on the Al-Mahmudiyah Mosque as Cultural Heritage Building. The form of results of this study are the explanation of the roof’s authenticity of the Al-Mahmudiyah Mosque, as well as the way to preserve it as a Cultural Heritage Building .
