Abstract

UKM Bedeng Ita Malioboro is a small and medium business engaged in the manufacture of red bricks. This study aims to improve an ergonomic work system, in order to increase product output productivity. The problem that occurs in SMEs is the non-fulfillment of the inputs and outputs produced. The SME printed 50,000 bricks but only 47,500 could be sold. These problems occur in the grilling and cooking sections, it is due to several factors, so this study uses a total ergonomics approach. For this reason, it is necessary to measure the physical workload using the calculation of heart rate, and the percentage of Cardiovascular Load (CVL). The results of the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire interview on the roasting and cooking sections obtained an NBM percentage score of 75%. The results of the work system improvement design carried out to increase productivity by setting rest periods, adding snacks, making appeals, and SOPs, with the REBA approach, there was a significant reduction in muscle complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) with the addition of an ergonomic chair when stretching, as well as adding a bag. transporting bricks in the cooking section, the resulting REBA score decreased from a score of 8 (penyengkrangan) and 9 (cooking) (high risk) to 4 (medium risk). With the improvement of the work system, there was an increase in output productivity by 2.4% with a total percentage of 97.4%, of the 50,000 bricks that were printed, 48,700 pieces could be sold. Keywords: Total Ergonomics Approach, Nordic Body Map (NBM), Rapid Entire Body Assesment (REBA), Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs), Productivity.
