Abstract
This study discusses the design of personal protective equipment products, namely Apekateka for lawn machine operators. Product design is done by the nigel cross method. The product design process begins with classifying the design objectives and assigning functions. After compiling consumer needs to determine the specifications of the new Apekateka, then determine the characteristics that aim to determine what targets will be achieved according to consumer needs. Furthermore, alternative generation that proposes 3 alternatives from Apekateka, then evaluates alternatives to choose one of the best alternatives, where the number of the best results, namely alternative 1 is an option. In alternative 1, Apekateka has specifications, namely steel plate material, rectangular design, locking system with a prong lock hook, method of making the tool semi, standard for sorting raw materials SNI 07-0722-1989, and length and width of 25 x 11 cm. Based on the tests that have been carried out, this tool can increase the comfort of the lawn machine operator by 77.8%. This is in accordance with the purpose of designing Apekateka products with 4 points of need, namely safe, comfortable, inexpensive, and operational.
