Abstract

Background: Children aged 0-24 months old need balanced nutrition on their first 1000 days of life. The dietary habit of pregnant women requires good nutrition such as protein, calcium, iron, and folic acid consumption. Lack of nutrition will impact the children's nutrition status. Therefore, there are malnutrition and stunting cases. Objective: This research aimed to investigate portrait of mothers' knowledge and family economic status about stunted children at Urban Village X Palembang. Method: This type of quantitative research used an analytical survey method that involved 48 women with 0-24 months old children as respondents of this research. The respondents were selected through the purposive sampling technique. The data of the research were analyzed by using univariate descriptive analysis. Result: The average age of the respondents was 28 years old. The respondents were mostly housewives 41 (85.4%), graduated from senior high school 28 (58.3%), owned good knowledge level 40 (83.3%), and had a family with low economic status 26 (54.2%). Suggestion: This research potentially contributes to the basis of policymaking to prevent stunting and improve stunting handling movement by providing counseling to develop mothers’ knowledge of child nutrition.
