Abstract

The process of aging (Aging Process) is a natural process that occurs continuously or continuously experienced by every living being since its birth. The changes that occur in an elderly person are physical changes, cognitive changes, spiritual changes, psychosocial changes, decreased function and changes in sexual potency. These changes can change the quality of life of the elderly. Purpose: This researcher aims to describe the quality of life of the elderly who live in the Harapan Kita Social Home Km 6 Palembang. Methods: This research is a type of quantitative research and descriptive survey methods. The population in the study was 30 respondents and the study sample was 20 elderly respondents at Social Harapan Kita KM 6 Palembang, using the purposive sampling technique. The data measurement tool used the Whqol-Bref quality of life questionnaire, the quality of life questionnaire was distributed using interview techniques for the elderly, and processed using univariate analysis. Results: The results of the study that have the majority age, namely elderly (60-74 years) more than 18 respondents (60.0%), the majority sex, namely 18 female respondents (60.0%), The highest of life for the elderly is medium quality of life with 22 respondents (73,3%).s Suggestion:it is hoped that with this research, the quality oflife of the elderly who live in social institutions is expected to be able to carry out activities to care for the elderly, to monitor health, and to carry out spritual activities.
