Abstract

Background: Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a virus that attacks the human immune system, where the population each year increases in Indonesia, which has reached 50,282 people in 2019. HIV sufferers will take ARVs in the long term to help inhibit the development of the virus, this requires patient compliance. HIV in taking ARVs. So that in order to maintain compliance it is necessary to carry out periodic compliance assessments and re-counseling as well as the need for sources of support regarding compliance. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between PLWHA support sources and adherence to ARV consumption at “X” Community Health Center Palembang. Method: This is a quantitative research using analytical survey method in terms of cross-sectional research design. It involved 32 respondents and the data were analyzed by Kendall Tau statistical test. Results: The results of the study of 32 respondents regarding the relationship between sources of support from PLWHA and adherence to taking ARV drugs were obtained, 27 people (84.4%) moderate social support, 18 people (56.3%) high family support, moderate peer support. as many as 25 people (78.1%) and high adherence to taking medication as many as 11 people (34.4%). The analysis of Kendal Tau test showed that there was no significant correlation between People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) support sources and adherence to ARV consumption at “X” Community Health Center Palembang. It is expected that PLWHA improve their adherence to ARV consumption and obtain supports from social environment, family and peer.
