Abstract

Background: Baby blues syndrome is the mildest form of depression, usually occurring between 2 and 14 days after delivery. this is caused by hormonal changes in estrogen and progesterone levels. Extrogen levels have the effect of suppressing the activity of the enzyme monoaminaoxidase, an enzyme that plays a role in mood swings, while the hormone progesterone affects smooth muscles which can reduce stimulation and increase in blood vessels experienced by up to 50% ˗ 80% of new mothers. In reducing the occurrence of baby blues syndrome disorders in mothers after childbirth, the presence of a husband to accompany his wife is expected, the husband's role in supporting his wife after childbirth, this attention has been socialized in various media such as electronic communication media in cyberspace, husband's support, knowledge and attitude towards the wife fosters positive energy that can benefit both. Purpose: study aims to determine the level of knowledge, attitudes and support of husbands regarding baby blues syndrome at Bhayangkara Hospital Palembang. Methods: This study used an analytical method with descriptive quantitative research type with a population analytic survey approach of 68 respondents and a sample of 41 respondents with a purposive sampling technique using the selovin formula. Data collection using a questionnaire and analysis used is univariate analysis. Results: The results of the research conducted by the researcher showed that the majority of husbands experienced a sufficient level of knowledge, namely 19 respondents (46.3%), based on the description of the husband's attitude, majority of respondents experienced moderate attitudes, namely 16 respondents (39.0%) and based on the description of the majority's husband's support. respondents had high husband support as many as 21 respondents (51.2%). Suggestion: the husband pays more attention to the mother in providing support, when other people pay more attention to the baby, that is where the husband's role works, namely by giving soft hugs and loving attention.
