Abstract

PT Kurnia Persada Mitra Mandiri is a company engaged in manufacturing furniture with one of the products produced is a Springbed. The Springbed production process consists of 14 to 16 processes, almost all of which are done at different stations so that materials and semi-finished goods must be moved to be able to work, the number of work stations that must be passed makes material handling activities an important part and should have more attention. Material handling will fundamentally be influenced by the distance traveled, therefore the production floor layout will be very important so that material handling activities can be suppressed as much as possible. The method chosen to improve this Layout is an analysis with the help of an Activity Relationship Chart (ARC) which can show the level of engagement between each station. From the results of the analysis using ARC, ineffective material handling were seen at the INV Ramper Lastiq station which affected the movement of material from and to other stations, the new layout design resulted in a reduction in Aisle distance up to 26.34% in the Springbed Coil Line and a decrease in Aisle distance reaching 34.62% on the Lastiq Springbed Line.
