Abstract
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive and irreversible chronic kidney function disorder. On the stage 5 of CKD or the last stage, the patients are required to undergo hemodialysis therapy. A long term hemodialysis therapy will have an impact on adaptation and life quality degradation of CKD patients. Adaptation is a way of changing oneself according to environmental conditions and being able to think and feel as an individual or group using awareness and choice in order to create human and environmental linkages. Quality of life can refer to subjective evaluations that are embedded in cultural, social, and environmental contexts Objective: The aim of this study is to analyze the correlation between adaptation and life quality of chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy at Bhayangkara Hospital Palembang. Methods: This study used an analytical survey design with a cross sectional approach. The sample consisted of 38 respondents selecting through a total sampling technique. Results: The study showed that there were 6 respondents (15.8%) aged 43 years old, respondents with early hemodialysis 45.79 years were 1 respondent (2.6%), 20 male respondents (52.6%), 3 respondents (7,9%) with 17,50 month hemodialysis therapy, 3 respondents (7,9%) with 136 times in 17.50 months or 1.46 years hemodialysis therapy, 36 respondents (94.7%) with 2 times in a month hemodialysis therapy, 35 respondents (92.1%) with regular hemodialysis therapy schedule, 23 respondents (60.5%) with maladaptive experience, and 37 respondents (97.4%) with good life quality experience. The results of Kendall Tau test revealed that there was no any correlation between adaptation and life quality of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy with (p = 0.419).
