Abstract

PT Cahaya Murni Sriwindo was established on May 30, 1988 and is a branch company of the Cahaya Buana Group based in Bogor. PT Cahaya Murni Sriwindo produces various kinds of furniture products such as Spring Bed, Foam Mattress, Napolly Top (Plastic Chair, Container, Houseware), and also Particle Board Cabinets (PANEL). One of the superior products from PT Cahaya Murni Sriwindo is the Spring Bed. With the high demand for spring beds, the spring bed production division has set a production target of 100 mattresses, 15 boxes and 15 backrests. This makes the spring bed production division always have to increase its productivity in order to meet demand. However, existing observations found that the work environment at the box frame and backrest manufacturing station is not properly arranged yet so that a lot of wood is scattered and there is no definite storage place for raw materials. In addition, there is also no special place to assemble the box frame and backrest which make workers do it on the floor and not always in the same place. This resulted in complaints of stiffness in the back from the operator and a waste of production time for the box frame and backrest, which was 13 minutes and 8 minutes. Therefore, the researcher wants to propose an improvement in work culture with the 5S method and ergonomics to reduce time waste. From the design results, there are suggestions such as sorting out the necessary and unnecessary items in the process of making a frame (seiri), adding a material storage cabinet and an ergonomic work table (seiton), maintaining cleanliness of the work place (seiso), maintaining 3S with existing standards and through the 5S (seiketsu) poster, applying discipline to every employee using the 5S implementation checksheet (shitsuke). If waste can be eliminated, it can increase the amount of production by 20% (box frame) and 13% (backrest frame). Keyword : 5S work culture, Ergonomic, time waste, Spring bed
