Abstract

Product defects have a big impact on the company, therefore, companies must be able to reduce or eliminate product defects during the production process. The problem with Areta Agung UKM is the occurrence of significant defects but still doing production. The purpose of this study is to identify the types of defects and to find out their causes and to improve the production process of the concrete blocks. The defects obtained are chipped / hollow blocks, imperfect bricks, and brittle bricks. The Six Sigma DMAIC method is to identify, analyze and solve problems that exist in this UKM in order to provide suggestions to the UKM Areta Agung Palembang to be implemented. The results obtained are that before the implementation in the production and removal of DPMO bricks obtained 27,483 and 26,034 from the DPMO values obtained sigma values of 3.42 and 3.44. The results after the implementation of the production of concrete blocks and removal of the DPMO blocks decreased by 23,745 and 22,731, so after implementing it got good results, for the sigma values of 3.48 and 3.50, there was a good increase after implementation. The implementation includes SOP for mixing raw materials (measuring), treatment of rotation work system / 2-hours, maintenance of tools, and work steps in the brick production process.
